Google Voice, an innovative service from Google house, recently became avaialble for the use of everyone in the USA. In India, it is available in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad. Highly useful exclusively for small businesses, it gives them additional advantages over others in the present era when communication is one of the makings of every business activity. Apart from making and receiving calls, recording voicemails, sending and recieving text messages through Google Voice application, some funcitonal features are there to faciliate the operation of a business across geographical borders. Moreover, with this applicaiton, products and services become searchable online for the people of particular areas. Just Dial, which also offers voice-based search service, is the only competititor of Google in the local search arena. However, Google’s voice service is more tempting because of the exlusive features, described below –

Search Voicemails and Prioritize Calls

Google records voicemails and the user gets transcripts of the voicemails through emails from the search giant. That is why, chances to lose the voicemails that are important for your business and from the target clients, are slim. More importantly, the recorded voicemails are searchable in Google search engine. Just like Google helps you explore the World Wide Web to search for anything under the sun, you can look for the transcribed texts of voicemails in the online search world. This specific function of Google Voice is useful exclusively for the businessmen who receive a large number of business calls. With Google Voice, they need not fear losing the calls or voicemails.

Sharing Calls and Voicemails with Others is Easy

Google Voice makes it an easy job to share calls, voicemails and text messages with the people in your organization. You can forward those as they are sent via email to you, to others, if necessary. The recorded audio of voicemails can be embeded and shared through email or other online communication tools. Moreover, you can record a call by pressing a button. The recorded audio will be searchable on the basis of specific key phrases on the web. Being shareable, the audio recordings can be useful for collaboration at corporates where conference calls are common. This feature of Google Voice benefits those who fail to turn up at conferences.

Adjust Contacts Depending on Various Purposes

Google Voice lets you categorize your contacts to some user-defined groups. From Google Voice’s setting menu, you can adjust the contacts under each group. You can connect with certain contacts through calls or voicemails and block other contacts from making unnecessary calls to connect with you. You can arrange the contacts in an order depending on your purpose of using them, for example business development discussion and product promotion. You can forward calls from the contacts of those groups to any member of your organization. Google Voice lets you customize voicemail messages for customer support or greeting callers or important clients.

Build a Local Identity of Business in Different Parts of the World

If your business runs over different parts of the world, you can pick the area codes of those places and set up your Google Voice number accordingly. The clients from those local parts of the world will get local numbers to call you. Different area codes may be irrelevant to you because you can make free domestic calls through Google Voice. But, it may not be the same for your clients and customers. The local area codes work as local representatives for your business. Google Voice allows you to make cheap international calls. Thus, you can save a sizable sum.

Specify Which Calls You Wish to Receive and When

You can instruct Google Voice over which numbers you want to recieve calls from and at which time of the day. If you dont wish your phone to ring duirng business hours, you can moderate it accordingly. If you are absent from office for some hours of the day, you can connect Google Voice with the calls recieved during those hours. There is of course, exception for important contacts. If specified, Google Voice will transfer calls from those contacts to your mobile phone.

Let me know, if you have benefitted from using Google Voice….

Twitter, the most popular micro-blogging site, is all set to turn over a new leaf. It is going for a leap in design and function to provide its global users a faster, easier and richer experience. Among the social media at work, Twitter lets you discover what is the latest and air yourself in the online world in an easier way. Whatever the purpose be, the Twitterholics are to be benefited by the following supposed enhancements –

The new version of Twitter.com will display an individual profile with a cleaner timeline and a pane of specific details. @mentions, retweets, searches and lists will be displayed in a streamline just above the timeline on the left of the profile. To see additional Tweets of those who they follow on Twitter, the users will be scrolling the page instead of clicking “More”. On the right of the profile, will be displayed the features like favorites, trendy topics, those you have recently followed and those who have recently followed you.

The new Twitter will be a rich social media platform. Twitter has tied up with a number of media sites including DailyBooth, Flickr, Kiva, Kickstarter, Etsy, DevianART, Justin TV, Photozou, Twitgoo, Plixi, TwitPic, TwitVid, Vimeo, yfrog, USTREAM and YouTube to keep the users engaged and active. Google Instant – Benefits for Users & Changes in SEO

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Google is Aladin’s Chirag. What can be pithier and punchier than this definition to focus on the wonders that Google keeps releasing from its magic box. The search giant is always up with innovations to keep the spirit of its users alive. To help the users get at what they look for in the online search world and drive the visitors to their destinations in no time has been a concern with Google. Google Instant, a new feature for search enhancement, has resulted from this concern. Google Instant

Google’s purpose of having developed this search-friendly feature is multidimensional. As per Matt Cutts’ view on Google Instant, it is aimed at crawling the web world faster, better and deeper. It is a boost to the search engine’s indexing size and speed. Pushing the limits of Google use, it shrinks the web world on the basis of a particular search phrase to make online search concise and efficient.

Benefits of Using Google Instant

Google Instant is so fast that it begins to show search results the moment you start typing a search key phrase in the search box. Before this search enhancement, you had to put a complete search term and hit the button ‘Google Search’ to get at the relevant result pages. Now, with Google Instant results appear keeping pace with your typing a search keyword. It helps you see whether the search phrase you are using is useful or not.

Google Instant does not disappoint you even if your search phrase is incomplete and unsuitable. Before you finish typing a search phrase or query, Google Instant makes predictions related to it in grey text in the search box itself. If you get from the predictions what you need, you need not complete typing. The search results on your query are more specific and relevant. Thus, it reduces the time that a user usually spends on online search.

The moment you go online, time begins to count. It takes you several seconds to type a search query accurately, while Google turns up with search results in a split of a second. With Google Instant, search has become not only faster but also predictive and specific. This innovative approach to Google search is the key to getting the right content in less time than before.

Is Google Instant a Threat to SEO

Many are under the assumption that as Google Instant has made online search for something specific and easier, it may pose a threat to SEO. SEO is all about how to put one’s website, webpage, blog or content apart from the crowd in the online search world. However, the assumption is absolutely wrong. By specific search results, it does not mean that one’s site will be visible among the top ten.

The competition among websites in particular categories for huge visibility and noticeable position may get loose. According to Matt Cutts, Google Instant will inevitably introduce some changes in the existing search engine optimization process. Evidently, the SEO field needs to roll with the punches for everything changes and goes with the time rolling on to survive as well as thrive. There is no denying to the fact that Google Instant is likely to reduce the effort and labor that SEO guys put in to promote a website on Google’s search result pages.

Let’s wait and see what the picture of online search with Google Instant is going to show.
