Websites with Simple and Smooth Navigation are not only User-friendly but also Search Engine-friendly
Monday, July 20th, 2009In one of my previous blogs, I have put flesh on the role of web design in search engine optimization of websites for the benefits of website owners. Simple and smooth navigation through the web pages of a website is one of the fundamental measures of perfect website design. Functional efficiency of a website depends on the degree of the site’s navigability. Browsing through an easily navigable website saves time that is a primary concern with most of today’s net freak visitors.
There are multiple websites on a single service or product. I myself prefer visiting the site that offers consistent navigation. Navigation through a website is like the route to a destination. Awareness of position while travelling in a strange city is important for a traveler to make sure how to go ahead or back. The same is the case with websites. Consistent navigation is one of the basic user-friendly web design elements that make a website stand out from the rest of its group in search engines. Easy access to each webpage from the main page of a website is a mark of hassle-free navigation.
If the background of index page is black, other web pages should have similar background. If the home page has a left-hand navigation bar, all other pages following the home page should have it. Make sure the use of one or two nifty looking fonts in the web pages. It holds firm to the attention of readers. It is not only distracting but also annoying to go through the web pages with different fonts.
I consider the sites whose content is categorized into departments and sub-departments worthy visiting again and again. It is another parameter of navigation through a user-friendly site. Web pages with light navigational graphics take little time to load. The hyperlinked text of a website is a consideration for smooth navigation. The text crammed with hyperlinks keeps off visitors from browsing the web pages.
Simplicity and consistency are two great navigational features of good website design to get loads of traffic to your website and promote its page rank in search engines.
